I have been using silk as my principal medium for the last 15 years . When I first started painting on silk and I saw how the colour flowed into the fabric, the exciting possibilities of the medium totally captivated me.
The silk painting process is more challenging then painting on canvas or paper. It requires me to be very careful because I always have to think what I need to do step by step, because I can’t make a mistake on silk. It can’t be erased or repaint. I tried out various styles and subjects finding that colourful flowers, birds and under water world best suited my approach to silk painting. Silk not only accommodates the most exotic of colours, but it is also a perfect medium to capture the beauty of Mother Nature.
I love that painting on silk is such an interactive process, filled with life. It’s a dance between the artist, the liquid, transparent colours spreading across the surface, and the silk itself. I love the way the already luminescent silk develops extra sparkle when it is dyed. As they dry, the colours create spontaneous and unpredictable, organic textural effects, making each piece a unique surprise. What’s not to love?
In my high school I finished Art School. But then had degree in Applied Mathematics and have been worked as a software programmer. Art has been just my hobby. Only 4 years ago I’ve decided to make my dream true and move my hobby in a professional way. And now my paintings are exhibited in galleries and art shows and my silk wall hangings are being purchased extensively for public and private collection in Australia, USA, Canada, Japan, Italy and Russia .
